From May to October, the Zentrum Social Park turns three green areas in the heart of Bolzano – the Cappuccini Garden, Berloffa Park and the Garden of Religions – into a single open meeting place. The project is coordinated by the Family, Women, Youth and Social Promotion Office of the Municipality of Bolzano and by Compagnia teatroBlu.

The programme is open to all ages and offers a wide range of free events: sports and wellness activities such as Qi Gong, yoga, family yoga, Pilates, running groups, walking groups and morning exercise sessions; as well as cultural and social initiatives including concerts, theatre performances, workshops, photography exhibitions, city festivals and open community gatherings.

Regular weekly activities include yoga, Pilates, walking and running sessions. Standalone highlights include the Streetvibe concert, the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige, the Trento Film Festival, the Living Library, a stand-up comedy evening and the BoDA festival by BolzanoDanza.

All events are free and open to everyone without prior registration. In case of bad weather, most events move to the Sala di Rappresentanza of the Municipality of Bolzano; a few events have their own specific alternative venues. The programme is subject to change.

The Social Park Mignone Rosenbach is a community project that brings the Oltrisarco-Aslago neighbourhood of Bolzano to life from May to October, turning Parco Mignone and Piazza Nikoletti into open meeting spaces for all generations. The project is coordinated by VKE Casagioco in collaboration with the neighbourhood council and a wide network of local associations.

The programme offers a varied range of free activities: sports such as yoga, morning exercise, walking groups and basketball for children and teenagers with Basket Club Bolzano; cultural events including puppet shows from the Blu d'estate series, children's reading sessions, concerts and music evenings; and social and creative formats such as chess tournaments, bocce, karaoke, drumming workshops, kickboxing and intergenerational gatherings.

Some evening events take place in the Sala Rosenbach at Piazza Nikoletti. In case of rain, outdoor activities move indoors; unless otherwise specified, events are cancelled.

All events are free and open to everyone without prior registration. The programme is subject to change.

Bolzano Cathedral and other churches in the city offer a rich concert programme in the second half of 2026. Events range from the Bozner Orgelsommer organ festival, now celebrating its tenth anniversary, to vocal and instrumental concerts in autumn, and organ vespers and an Advent concert in the Christmas season.

The season opens with the Bozner Orgelsommer, reaching its tenth year in 2026. The series was created to showcase the remarkable organs of Bolzano and to bring national and international organists to the city's churches. Six concerts take place across several venues: the Cathedral, the church of Maria in Augia, the abbey church of Muri-Gries, the Lutheran Evangelical Church, and the Franciscan Church. The opening concert on 14 August at the Cathedral also serves as the launch event for the newly published book Bozner Orgelwelt by Hannes Torggler, a detailed record of all organs in the Bolzano municipal area. That same evening, the Cathedral's smaller organ at the people's altar — recently restored and retuned to match the main instrument — will be heard again, both as a solo instrument and alongside the principal St Gregory organ and the Cathedral Orchestra. The remaining concerts take place on Fridays at 7 pm and feature guests from the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany, as well as local organist Leonhard Tutzer.

In autumn, the programme continues with two notable vocal concerts: on 4 October, the Franciscan Church hosts the Ensemble Alle Breve in a concert marking the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. On 18 October, the Flensburger Bach Chor performs at the Cathedral.

The Advent and Christmas season brings a final series of events: an organ vespers for Advent at the Cathedral on 29 November, an Advent concert by Ensemble Gherdéina on 12 December, and an organ vespers for the Christmas season on 27 December to close the concert calendar.

How does one create a work of art under the daily threat of war? The Ukrainian collective Opera Aperta responds with Mōdraniht. Songs of Winter War, an interdisciplinary work combining theatre, music and political reflection into a powerful and timely ritual narrative.

The piece is rooted in the collective's real journey through wounded geographies and ancestral rituals: from the Carpathian Mountains, marked by conflict and political upheaval, to the Aral Sea in Uzbekistan — a symbol of one of the worst human-caused environmental disasters — and on to La Vijanera in Silió, Cantabria, an ancient carnival that has survived as a living community celebration. The dramaturgical framework draws on Mōdraniht, the "Night of Mothers", an ancient Anglo-Saxon pagan rite tied to the winter solstice. Styles, texts, timeframes, and both macro and micro histories converge in an ensemble work that transforms real conflicts, war trauma and environmental catastrophe into a ritual language.

Recommended for ages 18 and over.
The performance contains nudity.

The Kinderfestival returns to Bolzano for four days of street theatre, music, creative workshops and family entertainment. The event takes place in the garden of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano and along the Talvera riverside promenade (Via Talvera 18, Bolzano), with two additional venues: the Civic Library at Via Museo 47 and the courtyard of the Free University of Bolzano (Piazza Università).

More than 25 activity stations bring the festival to life for all ages. Regular daily features include magic shows with Peter Orlando/Mago Paladino, the Kasperl puppet theatre, creative workshops, children's book readings by Effekt Verlag, Family Freespace, geocaching with Lucy powered by Alperia, a carousel, a trampoline and pony rides (the latter two for a fee). El Grito's contemporary circus performs under a big top with Teatro Cristallo, accessible with a 2 € contribution.

Each day brings a different programme to the main courtyard, with rotating artists and companies. Full daily schedules are available at kinderfestival.it.

New this year: the exhibition "Gentilezza" created with the A.-Langer School, organised by PLUS ART in collaboration with Teatro Cristallo, and the new Pensplan Centrum station.

Starting from Ciampedie, you will walk towards Gardeccia with a hiking guide along an easy trail that, step by step, invites you to observe, listen, and discover nature. The destination is an alpine dairy, where time still seems to follow the simple rhythms of the mountains and animals. Here, the experience brings adults and children closer to a life of practical tasks: meeting cows, calves, and other animals up close, observing daily activities, and understanding what it means to live and work at high altitudes during the summer. Through stories, fascinating facts, and traditional activities, participants can learn more about alpine farming and the deep connection between nature, livestock, and the local area. At the end of the visit, the return to Ciampedie follows the same route.

Meeting point: every Friday at 10:00 at the mountain station of the cable car. Duration: approx. 3 hours. Difficulty: medium-easy. Children from 6 years old. Route also suitable for all-terrain pushchairs. Dogs allowed. The route may be subject to change. Please specify the children's ages when booking.

An atmospheric hike along watercourses, forest paths, and historic cultural landscapes. Legendary places and the wild Tschamin Valley give this tour its distinctive character.

Tour description:
We start at the valley station of the Tiers cable car and follow the “Forest & Water” nature trail past the new power plant towards the Steger Sawmill. From there, we continue via Weißlahnbad in the direction of Tschetterloch, reaching the area known as Schwarzer Lettn. We then walk through the Tschamin Valley to Rechter Leger, where we cross the Tiers stream. Afterwards, we follow a forest road back to the Nature Park information centre at the Steger Sawmill.

At the end of the hike, we visit the Schlern–Rosengarten Nature Park information centre located at the Steger Sawmill. Unfortunately, the historic Venetian sawmill cannot currently be demonstrated due to damage caused by a severe storm. Nevertheless, the visit is well worthwhile: in the carefully restored sawmaster’s residence, visitors gain fascinating insights into traditional alpine craftsmanship, geology, as well as the flora and fauna of the nature park, with audio stations, a small cinema room, and interactive exhibition elements.

We then return to the cable car via the “Forest & Water” nature trail.

The UNIKA Art Fair stands for quality, diversity and the courage to explore new artistic paths. It is precisely the combination of contemporary art and a rich craft tradition that makes it a distinctive showcase of Val Gardena.
On more than 500 m² of exhibition space at the Runggaditsch Tennis Center, visitors can look forward to an impressive journey through art and culture. Around 200 works – including sculptures, paintings and photographs – will be on display: unique creations that tell stories of tradition and innovation.
A total of 29 UNIKA artists and one guest artist will take part in the exhibition. With passion and expertise, they transform a wide range of materials into works that embody the uniqueness of the local heritage while making the evolution of artistic craftsmanship visible.
This year, the art fair takes on a special significance. As part of the new „Enes dl’Ert“ initiative, UNIKA is being integrated for the first time into a joint project that brings together artists’ associations and various organisations from Val Gardena. Together, they aim to showcase what has defined the valley for generations: creative expression, outstanding craftsmanship and a living tradition that is constantly evolving.

IMPORTANT: Access to the UNIKA Art Fair will remain fully open on Saturday, 12 September 2026, despite the Sellaronda Bike Day. There will be no restrictions or disruptions when travelling to the art fair.

Three days of celebration in Canazei with music and traditional cuisine, culminating on Sunday in a grand parade of around a thousand Ladin participants in folk costume.

This festival marks the end of summer. From 11 to 13 September, Canazei brings together the Ladin communities of Val di Fassa and the surrounding valleys around the Sella massif for three days of regional gastronomy, entertainment, and folk music. The highlight of the Gran Festa da d'Istà is Sunday afternoon's parade. At 15:00, cheered on by spectators, around a thousand participants—including brass bands and folklore groups—parade through the village streets on foot or aboard decorated carriages and floats, wearing traditional costumes. Following the procession, the bands perform together in unison on the meadows of Pian de Parèda next to the marquee, followed by rhythmic folk dance performances. Under the large marquee, popular bands from across Tyrol take the stage to keep the crowd dancing late into the night. Food stalls serve traditional dishes and pastries throughout the weekend, including freshly made "sones" (apple fritters) and "fortaes" (strauben).

This year, the parade holds special significance as it marks the 80th anniversary of the Gran Radunanza di Ladins sun Sela. To commemorate the milestone, the organising committee commissioned composer Johann Finatzer to write a new march, "Ladins del Sela", which the participating bands will perform for the first time right after the parade. The 80th anniversary of the historic gathering will also be featured in a photography exhibition organised in cooperation with the Majon di Fascegn Ladin Cultural Institute. The exhibition presents historical photographs and the twelve points of the Zent Ladina Dolomites manifesto in the Pian de Parèda area.

Festenstein Castle can be described as a landmark of Andrian. It dominates the village from a lofty, rocky outcrop above the gorge of the Gaid stream. This strategic location was likely chosen so that enemy weapons could never reach the castle. The location also offers a spectacular 360° view across the lower part of the Etsch Valley. Festenstein was first mentioned in written documents in the mid-13th century. In 2008, Count Meinhard Khuen-Belasi purchased the castle ruins and, in cooperation with the South Tyrolean Office for Cultural Heritage, commissioned various restoration measures to stabilize the walls and protect the castle from further deterioration.

Festenstein can only be reached via a steep one-hour hiking trail from Andrian or 20 minutes downhill from the hamlet of Gaid.

Near the small church of St. Verena in Rotwand, traces of the oldest prehistoric settlements of the Renon have been discovered. This place of worship, located at the top of a hill, is the only one in Tyrol dedicated to Saint Verena. It was first mentioned in official documents in the 13th century.
The church overlooks the northern side of the Eisack Valley, offering an extraordinary view of the Sciliar massif. Visible from afar, it stands on an ancient place of worship and the remains of prehistoric hilltop forts, which were later transformed into a Christian sanctuary

Starting from Ortisei we ride moderately uphill for about 2 km in S.Cristina direction. On our way, we pass the little church of St. Jacob. In S.Cristina we leave the paved road and ride uphill towards the Gamsblut mountain hut and reach the Fermeda hut. From here we can enjoy a beautiful downhill to Rifugio Firenze and continue to Selva. From here the trail takes us through a wonderful larches forest into Vallunga in the Puez-Odle Nature Park. We reach the alpine meadows of Pra da Ri and then ride back to Selva and S.Cristina. Just before the area Soplases we turn left and ride along the old train tracks back to Ortisei.

International chess tournament

From 11 to 13 September 2026, the Val Gardena Chess Club will organize, for the fifth time, an important international chess tournament at the Cultural Centre in Ortisei.
The tournament has already taken place in 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2018, with participants from over 20 countries and 4 continents.

The three-day tournament will be called “Chessfestival ad Gredine”, a name that refers to the historical document in which this term was mentioned for the first time and from which the name “Gardena” later originated. In this way, the Ladin heritage will also be introduced to the world of chess.

An easy walk at Ciampac along the Marmot Trail to discover the burrows, whistles, and fascinating lives of these friendly high-mountain inhabitants.

At Ciampac, the world of marmots reveals itself step by step. Along an easy route of about 2 km, you will walk with a local hiking guide through alpine meadows and high-altitude landscapes, with the peaks of Colac and Crepa Neigra framing the scene. By observing closely, you will learn to spot the entrances to their burrows—which are connected by a fascinating network of underground tunnels—and understand the signals marmots use to communicate. With a bit of luck, you might see them pop out of the grass, stand upright like little sentinels, let out their sharp whistles, or scurry clumsily among the rocks. This simple, fun, and educational activity is a great way to introduce children to nature and explore the mountains with curious eyes.

Meeting point: every Monday and Friday at 9:00 at the top station of the Ciampac cable car in Alba di Canazei. Duration: approximately 3 hours. Difficulty: easy (not suitable for pushchairs; child carrier backpacks are recommended). Children from 3 years old. We recommend not bringing dogs, so as not to disturb the marmots in their natural habitat.

Price: free activity organised by the Funivia Ciampac e Contrin company, included in the Panorama Pass, the Dolomiti Supersummer pass, or the lift ticket. Booking is required online or at the valley's Fassa Sport offices by 18:00 on the previous day. If the maximum number of participants for the morning session is reached, bookings will open for a second afternoon session (meeting at 13:00).

Suitable clothing and footwear are required. Participants can bring a packed lunch or eat at a local mountain hut. The activity will be cancelled in the event of bad weather.

Our Packraft - Tour homerun (difficulty level medium) is something for adventurous water rats who want to test themselves and conquer the Adige river in their own boat. With action, fun and assertiveness, we master rapids, go around obstacles and relax on calm passages.

Experience South Tyrol with all your senses: after an expert e-bike introduction at 9.30 am in Schenna, we roll down to the Torgglerhof farm, where our first tasting awaits. We continue at a leisurely pace along the cycle path to the Pichler Walter apiary – here you'll discover how much work and passion goes into a jar of honey, with a tasting included, of course. Afterwards, we stop at the Mörrer for a well-deserved lunch break. In the afternoon, the group cruises relaxed down the valley before one final effort is required: the climb back up to Schenna is short but seriously steep – with the e-motor and a bit of momentum, however, it's perfectly doable. And at the top, the sweetest reward of the day awaits: a visit to Schenna's artisan ice cream manufactory. The tour ends at around 4 pm.

With its unusual shape, the Plattkofel peak is one of the most distinctive and best-known panoramic summits in the South Tyrolean Dolomites. At 2,955 m, the peak also boasts an absolutely spectacular 360° view of the Dolomites at sunrise.
A minibus will take you to the Zallinger mountain refuge, from where the fairly steep ascent leads to the Plattkofel mountain refuge. From here, the trail initially leads along a grassy ridge and later a very steep ascent over rocky terrain up to the Plattkofel peak, where you can experience a magnificent sunrise. After the descent along the same trail, you can enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Plattkofel mountain refuge before heading back to the set-off point.

DURATION OF THE HIKE (WITHOUT REST)
2:15 h from Zallinger to Plattkofel peak (3,7 km; 900 m uphill)
1 h from the peak to Plattkofel mountain refuge (2,3 km; 650 m downhill)
30 min. from Plattkofel mountain refuge to chair lift Florian (1,4 km; 250 m downhill). There we take the chairlift to Saltria, where the minibus awaits you.

In addition to standard hiking clothes, you also need good hiking boots, a wind jacket, at least 500 ml of fluids and possibly a hat, gloves and hiking poles. You will be provided with a headlamp at the meet-up point.

From Naturno you cycle comfortably along the Adige cycle path to Merano. From the Thermenplatz square, head eastwards through the Elisabeth Park into the Passeier Valley.

Mostly flat, with a slight incline, you can enjoy the marvellous landscape along the Passeier cycle path (19 km). The refreshing air of the Passer accompanies you along the entire cycle path to St. Leonhard. After a short break, return to St. Martin, where the bike shuttle is waiting to take you and your bike back to Naturns in comfort.

You can also board the bus in Merano at the roundabout by the railway station (near the PapinSport bike hire shop) at 4.55 pm

Discovering Largà

For centuries, the forests of Trentino have provided mountain people with timber for building homes and wood for heating. They also provided fruits, leaves, and flowers for use as food for people and animals, as well as remedies for various ailments.

In recent decades, these 'secondary' uses have almost disappeared. This is partly due to a modern lifestyle where we buy food in supermarkets and rely on pharmaceutical products. However, there are still forests where ancient traditions are kept alive. This is true for the woods of Palù del Fersina, where the magic of Largà has returned. This precious larch resin is once again being collected for many purposes, going well beyond its medicinal uses.

Join Paola, a local guide and forestry expert, on an easy hike to explore these woods. You will learn how to distinguish larch from other trees. She will also explain how the revival of this ancient practice allows us to still harvest the forest's gold: the precious Largà.

From the meeting point at the Nives square in Selva we take the taxi to Passo Pordoi. From there we take the cable car to Sas Pordoi (2.950m), where we will have a breathtaking view of the Dolomites: Marmolada, Sassolungo, Sassopiatto, Monte Pelmo, Monte Antelao, Civetta. We take the high trail and cross the Sella massif, a moom landscape at almost 3000 meters. Short break at the Boe hut (2.871m) and then continue to the Piasciadu Hut where we have lunch (2.585m). The descent is via the Val Setus (partly secured path) to the Gardena Pass, from where we take the bus back to Selva Gardena.

The Duron Valley tour, ridden counterclockwise, winds its way via Monte Pana and Zallinger up to the Duron Pass. This is where the highlight of the tour begins: a long, flowing and truly spectacular descent through the Duron Valley. Lying south of Sassopiatto, the valley forms a natural gateway to the striking Rosengarten group.
From Campitello, a cable car conveniently takes you up to Col Rodella (2,400 m), the highest point of the tour and an exceptional panoramic viewpoint over the surrounding peaks. The second major descent leads via Sella Pass back to Selva. Great riding fun combined with stunning Dolomite views.

One of the most beautiful and panoramic routes to this spectacular panoramic mountain in the Merano region is via the Heini Holzer via ferrata. The 550-metre climb is perfectly secured with 1000 metres of steel cable and is of medium difficulty (A - B - B/C). Under the expert guidance of a certified mountain guide, you conquer the impressive passages on the rugged rock faces of Ifinger peak.

Big Open Books – La Piazza che legge is a morning dedicated to books, shared reading and the pleasure of listening, transforming Piazza del Grano into an open, participatory space where reading steps outside its traditional settings and meets the local community. The event was conceived by Greta Marcolongo and developed in collaboration with Casa della Pesa–Waaghaus, the Ufficio Educazione permanente, biblioteche e audiovisivi (Autonomous Province of Bolzano–South Tyrol), Biblioteca civica "C. Battisti", Biblioteca Novacella, Biblioteca Oltrisarco (Municipality of Bolzano) and Biblioteca Terraferma, with the participation of volunteers from Nati per Leggere Alto Adige-Südtirol and LaAV – Letture ad Alta Voce. The event is curated by Sandra Passarello, together with librarians and volunteers from the Nati per Leggere Alto Adige Südtirol project.

The Kinderfestival returns to Bolzano for four days of street theatre, music, creative workshops and family entertainment. The event takes place in the garden of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano and along the Talvera riverside promenade (Via Talvera 18, Bolzano), with two additional venues: the Civic Library at Via Museo 47 and the courtyard of the Free University of Bolzano (Piazza Università).

More than 25 activity stations bring the festival to life for all ages. Regular daily features include magic shows with Peter Orlando/Mago Paladino, the Kasperl puppet theatre, creative workshops, children's book readings by Effekt Verlag, Family Freespace, geocaching with Lucy powered by Alperia, a carousel, a trampoline and pony rides (the latter two for a fee). El Grito's contemporary circus performs under a big top with Teatro Cristallo, accessible with a 2 € contribution.

Each day brings a different programme to the main courtyard, with rotating artists and companies. Full daily schedules are available at kinderfestival.it.

New this year: the exhibition "Gentilezza" created with the A.-Langer School, organised by PLUS ART in collaboration with Teatro Cristallo, and the new Pensplan Centrum station.

From May to October, the Zentrum Social Park turns three green areas in the heart of Bolzano – the Cappuccini Garden, Berloffa Park and the Garden of Religions – into a single open meeting place. The project is coordinated by the Family, Women, Youth and Social Promotion Office of the Municipality of Bolzano and by Compagnia teatroBlu.

The programme is open to all ages and offers a wide range of free events: sports and wellness activities such as Qi Gong, yoga, family yoga, Pilates, running groups, walking groups and morning exercise sessions; as well as cultural and social initiatives including concerts, theatre performances, workshops, photography exhibitions, city festivals and open community gatherings.

Regular weekly activities include yoga, Pilates, walking and running sessions. Standalone highlights include the Streetvibe concert, the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige, the Trento Film Festival, the Living Library, a stand-up comedy evening and the BoDA festival by BolzanoDanza.

Drawn to Risk

Drawn to Risk is a performance project born from a collaboration between the Südtiroler Künstlerbund and the Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare, as part of Transart. In a performative matinée, the exhibition spaces transform into a House of Performance – a space dedicated to research, experimentation, and encounter.

The project promotes bold and radical performance practices that explore the relationship between body, space, and social issues through immediate physical or mental actions. The museum spaces thus become sites of artistic presence and active interaction, opening up new perspectives.

Drawn to Risk understands art as a laboratory of the present – a space for experimentation, openness, and exchange – and aims to raise the visibility of performance art in South Tyrol.

Ouverture (Extras) is a new version of Ouverture, the a cappella opera-performance for five singers and five treadmills that premiered in 2025, reimagined for the spaces of the Teatro Comunale di Bolzano.

Situated in a threshold space-time, the work explores the performative tension that precedes the event – of the performance as much as of life. The preparations and rituals of opera intertwine with those of sport and wellness, in search of a wellbeing – or a form – always yet to come.

Taking place in the theatre's rehearsal room, this new configuration redefines the relationships between figure and background, stage and off-stage, while voice, word, and movement work together to lay bare the paradox of the contemporary body: disciplined yet consumed, suspended between the promise of balance and self-exploitation.

This symposium is part of the international conference «Everybody calls me Giorgio»: Moroder across media, arts and communication, devoted to the South Tyrolean pioneer of electronic and disco music. It is held in English.

The starting point is a well-known anecdote: Brian Eno, stunned by hearing I Feel Love for the first time, reportedly ran to David Bowie to announce he had discovered the sound of the future. In the 1970s, the arrival of synthesisers and sequencers not only transformed music but also sparked a profound debate about the relationship between human beings and machines in the creative process. Today, artificial intelligence and algorithms raise similar questions anew — in a context where automation increasingly challenges the identity and livelihood of musicians.

Tavia Nyong'o and Maria Perevedentseva examine this evolution from their respective disciplinary perspectives, offering a critical analysis of the complex relationship between automation and creativity.

The Semirurali Social Park is a community project that revitalises the Parco delle Semirurali in Bolzano's Don Bosco neighbourhood, transforming it into a lively and inclusive meeting place for everyone. The project is coordinated by Cooperativa 19 and BeYoung, with the aim of giving a shared green space back to the neighbourhood and the city.

From May to October, the park hosts a wide range of free sports, cultural and social activities. Regular offerings include running groups and morning exercise sessions with UISP, basketball training with Basket Club Bolzano, and inclusive chess events with ASD ARCI Scacchi Bolzano. The programme also features one-off events such as the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige, open-air cinema, concerts, theatre, workshops and community dialogue formats.

The UNIKA Art Fair stands for quality, diversity and the courage to explore new artistic paths. It is precisely the combination of contemporary art and a rich craft tradition that makes it a distinctive showcase of Val Gardena.
On more than 500 m² of exhibition space at the Runggaditsch Tennis Center, visitors can look forward to an impressive journey through art and culture. Around 200 works – including sculptures, paintings and photographs – will be on display: unique creations that tell stories of tradition and innovation.
A total of 29 UNIKA artists and one guest artist will take part in the exhibition. With passion and expertise, they transform a wide range of materials into works that embody the uniqueness of the local heritage while making the evolution of artistic craftsmanship visible.
This year, the art fair takes on a special significance. As part of the new „Enes dl’Ert“ initiative, UNIKA is being integrated for the first time into a joint project that brings together artists’ associations and various organisations from Val Gardena. Together, they aim to showcase what has defined the valley for generations: creative expression, outstanding craftsmanship and a living tradition that is constantly evolving.

IMPORTANT: Access to the UNIKA Art Fair will remain fully open on Saturday, 12 September 2026, despite the Sellaronda Bike Day. There will be no restrictions or disruptions when travelling to the art fair.

In 2026, the Verein LanaArt presents three new temporary sculptures in the Skulpturengarten along Brandis-Waalweg in Lana, as well as the publication FLOW – 25 Years of LanaArt.

Three days of celebration in Canazei with music and traditional cuisine, culminating on Sunday in a grand parade of around a thousand Ladin participants in folk costume.

This festival marks the end of summer. From 11 to 13 September, Canazei brings together the Ladin communities of Val di Fassa and the surrounding valleys around the Sella massif for three days of regional gastronomy, entertainment, and folk music. The highlight of the Gran Festa da d'Istà is Sunday afternoon's parade. At 15:00, cheered on by spectators, around a thousand participants—including brass bands and folklore groups—parade through the village streets on foot or aboard decorated carriages and floats, wearing traditional costumes. Following the procession, the bands perform together in unison on the meadows of Pian de Parèda next to the marquee, followed by rhythmic folk dance performances. Under the large marquee, popular bands from across Tyrol take the stage to keep the crowd dancing late into the night. Food stalls serve traditional dishes and pastries throughout the weekend, including freshly made "sones" (apple fritters) and "fortaes" (strauben).

This year, the parade holds special significance as it marks the 80th anniversary of the Gran Radunanza di Ladins sun Sela. To commemorate the milestone, the organising committee commissioned composer Johann Finatzer to write a new march, "Ladins del Sela", which the participating bands will perform for the first time right after the parade. The 80th anniversary of the historic gathering will also be featured in a photography exhibition organised in cooperation with the Majon di Fascegn Ladin Cultural Institute. The exhibition presents historical photographs and the twelve points of the Zent Ladina Dolomites manifesto in the Pian de Parèda area.

When the cattle returns from mountain pastures, people celebrate it with a colourful event in September. For this event, called “Almabtrieb”, the cows are decorated with alpine flowers, mirrors and bells.
From 10.00 am there is a festival on the meadow in Ranui. Traditional dishes are offered. Of course there is also traditional music.

The cattle drive will start at 11.30 am from Nock. The cows are expected to arrive in Ranui at around 12.00 noon.

The festival of the cattle drive takes place in all weather conditions (with a covered festival tent). The mountain hut Dusleralm remains closed on this day.

International chess tournament

From 11 to 13 September 2026, the Val Gardena Chess Club will organize, for the fifth time, an important international chess tournament at the Cultural Centre in Ortisei.
The tournament has already taken place in 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2018, with participants from over 20 countries and 4 continents.

The three-day tournament will be called “Chessfestival ad Gredine”, a name that refers to the historical document in which this term was mentioned for the first time and from which the name “Gardena” later originated. In this way, the Ladin heritage will also be introduced to the world of chess.

Local and seasonal, straight from the producer. Farmers from the surrounding area bring their own farm produce to the Brixen old town centre. Depending on the season, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, flowers, honey, homemade jams and pasta sauces, refined distillates and organically grown herbs as well as wooden handicrafts are offered on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

From April to October, local associations prepare fresh tirtln (fried stuffed pastry) on site on a weekly basis. This means that every Saturday is also a culinary experience.

This market has been a popular, lively meeting place for locals and guests for 30 years.

The Alpine Wall – A Bunker and its History

The Töll bunker is part of the "Vallo Alpino del Littorio", a defense system that Mussolini secretly had built during the Second World War. Although never used in combat, the facility tells of a time marked by fear and radical ideas. After

1945, many bunkers remained in operation throughout the "Cold War", until they were decommissioned in the 1990s.

Since 2014, the bunker has been open to visitors, and during this tour you will get an insight into the dark corridors and caverns built deep into the mountainside. Today it serves as a memorial and place of remembrance, keeping the history alive.
